THE BARN

“This barn wasn’t built by the farmer, this was built by a master, who was showing off”- a barn restoration expert from The Michigan Barn Preservation Network. Considered one of the best examples of late 19th century craftsmanship, this stone and hemlock timber 3 story barn has been restored to accentuate the best it has to offer. The 40 x 60 open and bright main floor can be used for a variety of events.

An easy access downstairs to our wedding suite to get ready in, bathroom suites, kitchen preparation area, walk in cooler, and lower level walkout has been added. The lofted lounge area is also tucked up and away for additional seating areas, games, and anything else chosen to overlook the main floor of the barn.

THE overlook

Nestled in a wildflower meadow with woods on both edges, the overlook is a mowed area with the most beautiful view of West Grand Traverse Bay. Just 5 miles from Suttons Bay, this very private property is only visible from the water below.

The Overlook has two grassy areas that are perfect for a tent set up or a ceremony with beautiful views - all a short walk from the fully renovated barn space.

the wildflower meadow

Tucked between the overlook and the lawn, this wildflower meadow has a lovely winding path for guests to walk and enjoy the beauty of Leelanau. The wildflower meadow has elevated views of Grand Traverse Bay, with views of the orchards and a dense forest. The plants include both annual and perennial flowers, many of them native to Northern Michigan and all a joy for our pollinator friends.

The orchard

While the farm has grown a variety of fruit over the years, including peaches and sweet cherries, today’s 15 acre orchard is planted with tart cherries. Typically blooming during the second to third week of May, the farm offers some of the best views Northern Michigan has to offer, especially with a cherry orchard in bloom as the backdrop.

The forest

The entire property is surrounded deep and lush woods that provide multiple backdrops and inset spaces to feel a part of the earth around you.

This gravel pad is fully shaded, with just some glowy light that passes through the trees - perfect for an open air dining experience or a tented reception.

The moon gate

Completed by property owner, Glenn Barnes, this special design honors the history of different architectural garden pieces around the world. The walkway welcomes guests from parking and begins the whole experience of The Foxglove Farm with a magical photo drop.

Guests are often welcomed here with a glass of bubbly to take the short walk up to the overlook for ceremony, then back to the forested areas around the barn for the rest of the evening.

The Bar shed

It was once the main water supply of the property and is now a restored bar shed with plenty of space for your bartending team and walk up counters for the your guests to enjoy drinks through the evening. Located across from the barn and next to the main open gravel area for an al fresco dinner or clear top tent, it’s surrounded with plenty of wood teak furniture perfect for your cocktail hour to feel a natural part of the day.
